Gilbert's Backwards Day is the first published children's book written and illustrated by Timothy R. Butcher

Gilbert's Backwards Day tells the story of Gilbert who wakes one Tuesday morning with his legs on backwards. All throughout the day, things just keep on happening out of order, and Gilbert's frustration grows and grows until he manages to find some connection-- some beauty in the present-- by being broken out of his cycle of mundanity.

This story aims to convince the reader that not every issue, not every ailment or disability can simply disappear at the end of the day. Some days are harder than others, but what's important is remembering that life is a beautiful, precious thing, and that it is always worth living.
